MyFarmbase Africa Journal Submission Guidelines.

MyFarmbase Africa Journal is the flagship publication of MyFarmbase Africa, designed to amplify innovative research, case studies, and practical insights that shape the future of African agriculture and agri-tech. We welcome articles that engage, inform, and inspire a broad audience of agricultural stakeholders across the continent and beyond.

Nature of Journal Articles:

MyFarmbase Africa Journal publishes content that:

  • Translates complex agricultural concepts into clear, engaging narratives.
  • Bridges the gap between research, practice, and policy in the African agricultural space.
  • Highlights real-world challenges, innovations, and success stories, particularly in smallholder farming, agri-tech, climate-smart agriculture, and food systems transformation.

Our articles are accessible to a wide audience including farmers, agripreneurs, policymakers, development partners, and students. The focus should be on practical implications, real-world outcomes, and the potential for scaling impact.

Types of Submissions:

We invite the following contributions:

  • Feature Articles (1,500-3,000 words)
    Analytical pieces on key agricultural themes, policies, and emerging technologies, including supporting data and case studies.
  • Case Studies & Success Stories (1,000-2,500 words)
    Spotlight on innovations, programs, or entrepreneurs driving transformation in agriculture.
  • Opinion Pieces & Commentaries (800-1,500 words)
    Thoughtful perspectives on pressing agricultural issues and future trends.
  • Infographics
    Visual representations of complex agricultural data, trends, or practices, designed to engage and inform.
  • Thematic Proposals
    Curated collections of 3-5 related articles exploring a single topic in depth (e.g., climate-smart agriculture, regenerative farming).

All submissions are reviewed for publication consideration and editorial alignment.

Infographics and supporting visuals should be included as high-resolution attachments.

For thematic proposals, please include a short (200-300 word) concept note outlining the theme, relevance, and potential contributors.

Style Guidelines:

Manuscript Formatting:

  • Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx) format
  • Double-spaced, 12-point Times New Roman
  • 1-inch margins
  • Clear headings and subheadings
  • Use bullet points and numbered lists where helpful

Writing Style:

  • Plain, engaging language suitable for a general-interest audience
  • Active voice and direct language
  • Clear explanations of technical terms or processes
  • Local context and examples to make content relatable

Figures, Tables, and Visuals:

  • Use clear, simple charts or images to complement your text
  • Submit visuals in high-resolution (PNG, JPEG, or PDF)
  • Provide clear captions for each visual element

References and Sources:

  • Use APA style for citations
  • Include hyperlinks for online sources (where relevant)

Review and Publication Process:

All submissions are reviewed by the editorial team and/or external experts to ensure:

  • Relevance and alignment with the journal’s scope
  • Clarity and accuracy of content
  • Potential to inspire and inform agricultural stakeholders

Authors will receive feedback and may be asked to revise and resubmit. Once accepted, manuscripts will be professionally copy-edited and scheduled for publication.

MyFarmbase Africa Journal will be published quarterly, and contributors are notified of new issues via email and social media channels.

Timing and Deadlines:

Submissions are accepted on a rolling basis throughout the year.
Each quarter, accepted articles are compiled into a new issue, ensuring timely publication of your insights.
